Half Price Books "Feed Your Brain" Summer Reading Program | Events

Before kids know it, the end of school will be here and parents will look for activities to keep their children busy throughout the summer.  One great activity to help keep minds active during the summer is the Half Price Books “Feed Your Brain” summer reading program.

Beginning June 1, children 14 and under can participate by picking up a reading log at their local Half Price Books, or downloading a copy at www.hpb.com/fyb.

Kids are encouraged to read at least 15 minutes a day.  Once they’ve read 300 minutes, parents and children can stop by the nearest Half Price Books to turn in their completed log and earn a $5 HPB Back-to-School Bucks reading reward in both June and July.

Half Price Books will award one TOP READER prize per age group during each month of the program – a $20 HPB gift card.

“It is so important for parents to encourage reading during the summer so their kids are not behind when the next school year begins,” said Kathy Doyle Thomas, executive vice president of Half Price Books.  “Even if your child doesn’t enjoy reading, find topics they like to make it more fun for them whether it’s reading a comic book, the sports page or a recipe while you cook.”
