New look for Lorain Road in Fairview Park | News
The City of Fairview Park recently received a grant from the Cuyahoga County Department of Development to visually enhance the western end of Lorain Road. City officials went to work immediately to create a "new and different" look for the western gateway to the city that would fit within the parameters of the grant rules, the available funding, and the strict timeline for completion.
They received assistance from Kit Kimmich of Kimmich Landscaping, located in Fairview Park, to create this look.
From West 223 Street to the North Olmsted border, 34 large planters will be placed in strategic locations along Lorain. Each of these planters will be filled with a flowering tree and, in the spring, a variety of colorful flowers.
Many of these planters will also be accompanied by green benches.
City banners and American flags will be placed on poles in the area of the planters and benches.
Next summer, they will also be adding hanging flower baskets along this area as well.
Installation of these streetscape elements will begin mid- August.
