Fairview Park school board members have appointed Laurie Stauber to serve until the next regular board of education election in November 2013. At that time, Stauber may choose to run for the remainder of former board member Dennis Rehor's term, which is set to expire December 2013. Rehor resigned from the board the beginning of July.
"I'm a strong advocate of education and recognize its direct tie to a strong community," said Stauber. "I'm excited to be a part of the board and will strive to make this district the best it can be."
Stauber has been a resident of Fairview Park for 26 years. She and her husband John have two children: Eric, a graduate of St. Edward HS and Baldwin-Wallace College; and Michael, a graduate of FHS and The Ohio State University. Stauber is a Technology Commercialization Lead for the NASA Technology Transfer & Partnership Office. She received her master's degree in Business Management from Central Michigan University and a bachelor's degree in English from Baldwin-Wallace College. Some of Stauber's educational and community related involvement includes: Fairview Park Education Foundation trustee, Fairview Park Gemini Project Community Improvement Committee member and Literature Development Lead, Messiah Lutheran School Board Member, and a member of the NASA Glenn Speaker Bureau since 1992.
"I look forward to working with Laurie Stauber," said FPCS Board President Joe Shucofsky. "Her work experience and long history of service to the community are both assets, which will serve the board and our community well."
