Fairview school changes for 6th graders | Schools
In the fall of 2013 Fairview Schools will be moving the 6th grade classes to the Mayer Middle School. School officials are on schedule to make all the necessary improvements to the facility to accommodate the move.
The classrooms will all be right near the front office. Workers will be putting in new casework, upgrading the technology and electrical along with painting and other cosmetic improvements. The old home economics room we will be converted into a science lab for the 6th grade.
As far as staffing and programming, the principals and the Fairview Superintendent met on Friday, February 15 to finalize the staffing portion of the move.
The students are going to have school just like they have at Gilles Sweet in most aspects. The change in geography will make any opportunities for accelerated placements easier, but that is something the handful of students who are accelerated already do.
Over the next couple of months, there will be several opportunities for students and their parents to come over to the Middle school and walk the building, familiarize themselves and also ask any questions they might have.
